Meet Head Constable Chaduvu Yadaiah whose bravery won him President's Gallantry Medal

Head Constable Chaduvu Yadaiah of the Telangana Police has been awarded the President's Medal for Gallantry for his exceptional bravery and dedication to duty. 

According to the Union Home Ministry, Yadaiah's gallantry was recognized for his bravery during arrests in a robbery case in July 2022, involving two notorious individuals, Ishan Niranjan Neelamnalli and Rahul, who were engaged in chain snatching and arms dealing.

On July 26, 2022, the Cyberabad Police apprehended the criminals, but they violently attacked Yadaiah with a knife, inflicting severe injuries, including stab wounds to his chest, back, left hand, and stomach. 

Despite his critical condition, Yadaiah demonstrated remarkable courage and resilience, managing to apprehend and hold onto the criminals until reinforcements arrived. He was subsequently hospitalized for 17 days to receive treatment for his injuries. 

Yadaiah's selfless act and unwavering commitment to duty have earned him the prestigious President's Medal for Gallantry.

The Medal for Gallantry (GM) has been awarded to 213 individuals, with 208 recipients being Police Personnel. The breakdown of Police Personnel recipients by state/UT is as follows:

- Uttar Pradesh Police: 17
- Maharashtra Police: 17
- Chhattisgarh Police: 15
- Madhya Pradesh Police: 12
- Jharkhand Police: 7
- Punjab Police: 7
- Telangana Police: 7
- Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF): 52
- Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB): 14
- Central Industrial Security Force (CISF): 10
- Border Security Force (BSF): 6
- Remaining Police Personnel from other States/UTs and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)

Additionally, 3 GM awards have been conferred upon Delhi Fire Service personnel, 1 GM award to Jharkhand Fire Service personnel, and 1 GM award to Uttar Pradesh Home Guard & Civil Defence personnel.

The President's Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) recognizes exceptional service records, while the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) honors valuable service marked by dedication and devotion to duty.
