10 IIT students injured as vehicle falls into 100ft gorge in Sikkim

Sikkim: A tragic accident occurred in Sikkim’s Mangan district on Saturday night, as a vehicle carrying ten students from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad skidded off the road and fell into a 100-foot-deep gorge near Pakshep in Forest Dara.
The incident took place at around 9:30 pm, while the group was travelling from Lachung to Gangtok, police said. The driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident. Among the injured were four female students, along with the driver, who also sustained injuries.
Three students were rushed to a hospital in Gangtok due to serious injuries, while the remaining were treated in Mangan. The authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the accident, but mountainous terrain and road conditions are being considered factors.
Local authorities and rescue teams responded swiftly to the scene, ensuring the injured received immediate medical attention.
