Son dies on way to hospital, 85-year-old mother collapses and dies on seeing body in Himachal

Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh): A 63-year-old man died on his way to the hospital after experiencing breathing problems, while his mother, unable to take the shock, also died as his body arrived home in Samoh village in Himachal's Hamirpur Barsar area.

According to villagers, the two deaths on Saturday morning within a few hours in a family turned the joy of Diwali into mourning.

Baldev Singh, a retired government employee who was suddenly experiencing breathing problems, was being taken to Barsar Hospital by his family, but he died on the way, they said.

His 85-year-old mother, Gyan Devi, was unable to take the shock of her son's death and fell unconscious as soon as his body arrived home, the villagers said.

The health of Gyan Devi, who had been crying inconsolably over the loss of her son, also deteriorated shortly afterwards. Her family took her to the hospital after she developed breathing problems, where doctors declared her dead at around 12 noon, they said.

The mother and son were cremated at the village crematorium. Singh has two sons. The younger son lives at home, while the elder one works in Bahrain.
