Tinsukia (Assam): The Red Shield Gunners of the Indian Army, under the aegis of Spear Corps, celebrated Holi with children at Nava Rupantar orphanage in Tinsukia, spreading colours of joy and warmth among the young residents.

According to the Defence PRO, 20 children aged between 8 and 17 years participated in the celebrations on Tuesday. Soldiers joined the children in playing with colours, distributing sweets and spending meaningful time interacting with them.

The event was marked by shared laughter, games and heartfelt conversations, creating an atmosphere of belonging and happiness. Army personnel encouraged and engaged with the children, ensuring each one felt valued and supported. The significance of Holi as a festival symbolising unity, hope and harmony was also shared during the interaction.

The celebration reflected the Indian Army’s continued commitment to community welfare, youth engagement and fostering trust with local communities in Assam.

Bakery Training Programme in Arunachal Pradesh

Earlier, on March 2, the Indian Army organised a month-long bakery training programme for civilians in Menchuka, Arunachal Pradesh, aimed at promoting self-reliance and skill development in remote border areas.

The programme provided hands-on training in bread-making, cake preparation, pastry production and food hygiene standards. Army instructors conducted both theoretical and practical sessions to equip participants with entrepreneurial skills.

Fifteen women from the local community took part in the initiative, expressing keen interest in establishing small-scale bakery ventures. The training is expected to enhance livelihood opportunities and contribute to local economic growth while strengthening civil-military relations in the region.
