Hathras Stampede: Bhole Baba not named in 3200-page UP Police chargesheet? | WATCH

The Uttar Pradesh Police have submitted a 3,200-page chargesheet against 11 individuals in connection with the deadly stampede in Hathras, which resulted in the deaths of 121 people.

However, according to defense lawyer AP Singh, the name of Suraj Pal, also known as Bhole Baba, who organized the 'Satsang' event where the incident occurred, has not been mentioned in the chargesheet.

The stampede, which took place on July 2 in Fulari village, Hathras, claimed the lives of 121 people, including women and children, during a 'Satsang' organized by Bhole Baba. The event attracted a crowd of over 200,000 devotees, despite official permission being granted for only 80,000 attendees.

In a self-recorded video, Singh stated that Bhole Baba's name is conspicuously absent from the chargesheet, and no case has been filed against him.

The next hearing for the case is scheduled for Friday, October 4.

"After 91 days of investigation, Hathras police filed a chargesheet of 3,200 pages against 11 individuals related to the Sikandra Rao accident. Suraj Pal, alias Bhole Baba, is not mentioned anywhere in the chargesheet, nor has any case been filed against him," Singh said.

Singh further noted that the judicial commission's investigation is still pending, and it remains to be seen if anyone else will be implicated.

"Once the chargesheet is reviewed, questions will be raised during the court trial. The court has set October 4 for the next hearing, during which the chargesheet will be formally acknowledged," he added.
