GST collections rise 7.5% YoY in July 2025 to ₹1.96 lakh crore

India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections rose 7.5 per cent year-on-year in July 2025, reaching approximately ₹1.96 lakh crore, driven primarily by higher domestic revenues.

In comparison, the GST mop-up stood at ₹1.82 lakh crore in July 2024 and ₹1.84 lakh crore in June 2025.

Domestic GST revenue grew by 6.7 per cent to ₹1.43 lakh crore, while GST from imports saw a 9.5 per cent rise, totalling ₹52,712 crore.

GST refunds recorded a sharp increase, jumping 66.8 per cent year-on-year to ₹27,147 crore.

As a result, the net GST revenue for July 2025 stood at ₹1.69 lakh crore, marking a modest 1.7 per cent year-on-year growth.

Commenting on the figures, Saurabh Agarwal, Tax Partner at EY India, said, “Despite global headwinds and some temporary slowdowns, the overall trend reflects stable consumption and a steady growth path for the economy.”

He added that the government’s timely refund disbursals have played a crucial role in supporting businesses by maintaining liquidity through improved working capital availability.
