Girl dangles mid-air for viral video in Pune, lands in police custody

Pune: Police at Bharti Vidyapeeth Station have arrested a man and a woman for performing a risky stunt to shoot a video on top of an old temple building. The incident, which occurred earlier this week, involved Mihir Gandhi, 27, and his friend Minakshi Salunkhe, 23, while a third person who filmed the video is currently on the run.
“After we got information about the video, we launched investigations and managed to trace them. They were summoned to the police station late last night and placed under arrest. We have charged them under IPC Section 336 and others,” said Dashrath Patil, Senior Inspector of Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station. Due to the nature of the offence, which carries a penalty of less than six months in jail or a fine, they have not been sent to custody, added the SI.
In the viral video, Mihir lay at the edge of the temple roof while Minakshi, seemingly unfazed, climbed down and held onto his hand, dangling mid-air from a height equivalent to about ten floors. The backdrop of the video showed a steep drop below, with traffic speeding along a nearby road, highlighting the severe danger involved.
The footage sparked outrage among Pune residents, who criticised the duo for risking their lives and setting a dangerous example, especially for young people. The SI assured that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the third person involved in filming the stunt on a mobile device.
Meanwhile, social media is abuzz with reactions on the stunt. Several users have commented in the video, expressing concerns. One comment under the video read, "Today's youth, who create reels showcasing their lives, often display a lack of basic fear. Acting recklessly in pursuit of heroism without considering their upbringing risks precious lives for 30-second reels... It's a devastating trend."
Most comments portay the depth of the ignorance of the youth today, such as, "It's bitter, but even if such people wake up, they will go to any lengths to become famous. They are fools."
This trend of youth indulging themselves in risky situations for likes and shares have hit the social media hard with even little kids trying to imitate the same.
