Bappa is home! Know the best time for Ganesh sthapana and wishes to share today

The grand festival of Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 begins today, marking the start of the 10-day-long Ganesh Utsav across the country. This year, the celebrations will take place from August 27 (Ganesh Chaturthi) and conclude on September 6 (Anant Chaturdashi).

On Ganesh Chaturthi, devotees install clay idols of Lord Ganesha in homes and temples with great devotion and fanfare. According to Hindu beliefs, worshipping an eco-friendly, clay-made Ganesha idol during these 10 days is considered highly auspicious and spiritually rewarding.

Auspicious timings for Ganpati Sthapana (Ganpati placing)

As per the Vedic Panchang, the Chaturthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the Bhadrapada month begins on August 26, 2025 at 1:53 pm and will end on August 27, 2025 at 3:43 pm. Based on the rising moon (Udaya Tithi), Ganesh Chaturthi is observed on August 27, i.e., today.

Ganesh Chaturthi puja timings:

First Muhurat: 11:01 am to 1:40 pm

Second Muhurat: 1:39 pm to 6:05 pm

Best time for Ganesh Puja: 11:05 am to 1:40 pm

Ganesh Sthapana and Puja Vidhi (Rituals)

1. Prepare the puja space

Begin your day with a bath and clean your puja space thoroughly. Decorate it with flowers, rangoli, and decorative items.

2. Set up the altar

Place a clean red or yellow cloth on a raised platform (chowki) in the northeast corner of your home. Place the idol of Lord Ganesha made from clay, brass, wood or stone, depending on your tradition.

3. Sankalp (Vow for worship)

Before starting the puja, take water, rice (akshat), and flowers in your hand and take a vow to worship Lord Ganesha with devotion.

4. Abhishekam (Ritual bath)

Chant the mantra “Om Gan Ganapataye Namah” to invoke Lord Ganesha. Then, perform Abhishekam (ritual bath) using Panchamrit—a mixture of milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar.

5. Offerings and adornment

Dress the idol in new clothes and ornaments. Offer modaks (Lord Ganesha’s favorite sweet), laddus, durva grass, red flowers and sindoor.

6. Daily worship

Continue offering prayers and aarti daily during the 10-day festival. On the final day, perform Ganpati Visarjan (immersion) with devotion and a heartfelt farewell.
