Four killed as Patalkot Express hits passengers near Jhansi

Four passengers were killed in a railway accident in the Jhansi Division of North Central Railway on Sunday after they were struck by a passing train while getting down from another halted train.
The incident took place around 4:15 pm in the Hetampur-Dholpur section when Train No. 19665 Khajuraho-Udaipur Intercity Express came to an unscheduled halt following an Alarm Chain Pulling (ACP) initiated by a passenger travelling in a general coach.
According to preliminary information shared by railway authorities, some passengers got down from the train and moved onto a nearby railway track while the train was stationary.
During this time, the Patalkot Express passed through the section and hit the passengers.
Confirming the incident, North Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Shashi Kant Tripathi said four fatalities have been reported.
Railway officials have launched an inquiry into the circumstances that led passengers to leave the train and enter the adjacent track area. Further details are awaited.
The accident has triggered concern over passenger safety and adherence to railway protocols during unscheduled train stoppages.
