Former vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar admitted to AIIMS after two blackout episodes

Former vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Monday after he fell unconscious twice earlier this month, officials said.
Admitted after repeated blackouts
Dhankhar, 74, was taken to AIIMS for a routine check-up, but doctors advised immediate admission to carry out detailed medical tests, officials said.
"Today, he had gone to AIIMS for a checkup when the doctors insisted that he should get admitted for tests," an official said.
Officials said Dhankhar experienced "two bouts of unconsciousness" on January 10 while going to the washroom. Following these episodes, doctors recommended further evaluation.
He is scheduled to undergo an MRI as part of the medical assessment, officials added.
Similar incidents during public duties
According to officials, Dhankhar had blacked out on several occasions in the past while attending public events as vice president. These incidents reportedly occurred in the Rann of Kutch, Uttarakhand, Kerala and the national capital.
Dhankhar had resigned as vice president on July 21, citing health grounds.
