Former JPSC chairman L Khiangte arrested by Jharkhand CID over exam row

Former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairman L Khiangte has been arrested by the state CID in connection with allegations related to the commission's 14th Civil Services Examination.

Khiangte has come under scrutiny over the empanelment of TDPL, a blacklisted company, to conduct the JPSC 14th Civil Services Examination.

Khiangte, who previously served as Jharkhand's Chief Secretary, resigned as JPSC chairman on July 22, 2026, amid the controversy.

At the time, he said his resignation was aimed at ensuring a fair and impartial investigation into the allegations surrounding the examination.

The arrest comes as questions continue to be raised over the conduct of the JPSC examination and the selection of agencies involved in the recruitment process.
