Fierce fire destroys several houses in Thoothukudi

Thoothukudi: A devastating fire tore through several houses in Thiruvalluvar Nagar, located near Alangarathattu in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi district, on Wednesday evening.

According to emergency management officials, strong winds in the area caused the flames to spread aggressively, rapidly trapping multiple residential properties within the locality.

Upon being alerted to the incident, emergency teams from the Fire and Rescue Services quickly deployed to the neighborhood to initiate a coordinated firefighting operation. Responders successfully brought the raging inferno under control.

While the property damage is extensive with several homes completely gutted and an array of household belongings ruined no injuries or loss of life have been reported.

Local authorities have opened an inquiry to determine the exact origin of the blaze. A comprehensive evaluation of the financial and structural losses is expected to follow shortly.

This incident follows a separate emergency on Tuesday, where a major fire broke out at a plastics storage facility in Ganapathy Nagar, located in the Ariyamangalam zone of Tiruchirappalli.
