Fact Check | Claims of explosion at Jaipur Airport absolutely baseless, say officials

Jaipur: Authorities in Rajasthan have firmly denied social media rumours suggesting explosions were heard at Jaipur Airport, calling the claims "completely false."

The District Collector and Magistrate of Jaipur issued a formal clarification, asserting that the airport remains secure and that no such incidents have taken place. The statement urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could contribute to panic amid heightened regional tensions.

Rajasthan CM Convenes High-Level Security Meeting

Amid escalating concerns along India’s western border, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma held an emergency high-level meeting at his official residence to assess the developing security situation.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General of Police, Director General of Intelligence, and the Additional Director General of Law and Order.

The discussions followed the interception of Pakistani drones by Indian air defence systems in Jaisalmer, where eyewitnesses reported hearing explosions and seeing flashes in the sky. In response, precautionary blackouts were enforced in several northern regions, including Bikaner, Punjab, Kishtwar, Akhnoor, Samba, Jammu, Amritsar, and Jalandhar.

Defence Readiness Heightened Across Northern India

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a strategic meeting with the Director Generals of India’s border guarding forces, focusing on heightened surveillance and readiness. He also reviewed airport security measures with the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

According to an official post from the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff on X (formerly Twitter), Pakistan launched drone and missile strikes targeting military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, all located close to the International Boundary.

The statement confirmed that the Indian Armed Forces neutralised the threats using both kinetic and non-kinetic methods in accordance with standard operating procedures. “No losses were reported,” it added.

India's Response: Operation Sindoor

The latest escalation follows Operation Sindoor, India’s precision military response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians lost their lives. As part of the operation, India carried out precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).

New Delhi has reiterated its position that any attack on Indian military installations would be met with a firm and proportionate response. (ANI)
