Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has scheduled the hearing of a writ petition filed by Disha Salian's father, Satish Salian, for April 2. He is seeking a fresh probe into his daughter's death and demanding the interrogation of UBT-Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray.

Aaditya Thackeray has previously responded to allegations linking him to the case, stating that attempts have been made to defame him for the past five years.

"A lot of people have tried to defame me for the last five years. If the matter is in court, then we will speak in court," Thackeray told the media.

Sameer Wankhede to file affidavit in High Court

A copy of the writ petition has also been served to Sameer Wankhede, the former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) director, by the advocate representing Satish Salian.

Faizan Merchant, the advocate for Sameer Wankhede, has confirmed that his client will be filing a detailed affidavit in the Bombay High Court addressing all the points concerning him.

As part of the legal proceedings, Wankhede is also expected to submit evidence collected during his official investigation.

Background of the case

Disha Salian, who was the former manager of the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was found dead on June 8, 2020. Her death occurred just days before Sushant was found hanging in his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020.

Following her death, Mumbai Police registered an accidental death case and later formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) in 2023 to probe the matter.

Fresh demand for CBI probe

Disha Salian’s father has now approached the Bombay High Court, requesting an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray and seeking to transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput’s death had also led to a major controversy, with the case being handed over to the CBI. His post-mortem, conducted at Cooper Hospital in Mumbai, concluded that the cause of death was asphyxia.

The hearing on April 2 will determine the next course of action regarding the demands for a renewed investigation.
