New Delhi: A new political satire appears to be taking shape online after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s use of the phrase “dimagi naxal” in his Independence Day address. Within hours, accounts using names such as ‘Dimagi Naxal Janta Party’ and ‘Dimagi Naxal Party’ surfaced on X and Instagram, drawing attention with posts aimed at the political controversy.

The emergence of the accounts has also triggered comparisons with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a viral Gen Z-led online movement that exploded on social media in May 2026. The question now being raised online is whether the Dimagi Naxal Party could follow a similar trajectory.

What is the Dimagi Naxal Party?

An X account named ‘Dimagi Naxal Janta Party’ (@DNJP_India) appeared amid the political row over the Prime Minister's remarks. The account has posted a series of satirical messages and positioned itself around the phrase that became the centre of the controversy.

One of its initial posts said: “We are Followers of Bhagat Singh… If THEY try to suspend our accounts or label us Anti-Nationals.. Just know- They are disrespecting Bhagat Singh.”

The account has also retweeted actor Prakash Raj, who wrote: “Dimagi bano .. Bewakoof nahi. Sawaal karo .. Gulami nahi.”

As of Monday morning, the X account was following 17 accounts. Those included Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and actor Prakash Raj.

Who is behind the X account has not been mentioned.

Dimagi Naxal Party gains over 1.6 lakh Instagram followers

A Instagram handle called ‘Dimagi Naxal Party’ has also surfaced and gained more than 1.6 lakh followers in a day, according to the information provided on the platform.

The person or group operating the account has not been identified.

However, the account now appears to have disappeared from Instagram. The page displays “Sorry, this page isn't available.”

The rapid growth has drawn attention because of its resemblance to the way the Cockroach Janta Party gained traction online earlier this year.

Why is the Dimagi Naxal Party being compared with CJP?

The Cockroach Janta Party, or CJP, exploded online in May 2026 after CJI’s controversial remark comparing unemployed youth to cockroaches. Launched by strategist Abhijeet Dipke, the movement reportedly crossed 1 million Instagram followers within its first 24 hours, while tens of thousands also signed up through its website.

The CJP's rapid rise turned a controversial political remark into an online protest movement.

The Dimagi Naxal Party is now emerging from a similar social media dynamic: a politically charged phrase has been turned into a satirical identity, with users adopting the term and pushing it back into public discourse.

Whether the new accounts develop into anything comparable to CJP remains to be seen. For now, their rapid appearance and follower growth show how quickly a political phrase can become a social media trend.

What did PM Modi say about ‘dimagi naxals’?

The phrase “dimagi naxal” became the focus of the political controversy after Prime Minister Narendra Modi used it during his Independence Day address while speaking about the government's fight against Maoists.

“We have succeeded in eliminating armed Naxals from the forests and liberating the nation from that crisis. However, while armed Naxals are gone, dimagi (intellectual) Naxals are lurking around,” Modi said.

He also said that people with a Maoist mindset had, for years, established themselves in the corridors of power and had served as advisers on government committees and influenced public policy.

The remark triggered a political row, with senior Congress leader P Chidambaram saying he was proud to be a “dimagi naxal”.

The phrase has since moved beyond the political debate and into social media, where the newly created Dimagi Naxal Party accounts are using it as a satirical label.

Dimagi Naxal meaning: Why is the phrase trending?

In this political context, “dimagi naxal” refers to the phrase used by Prime Minister Modi for what he described as people with a Maoist mindset who operate beyond armed insurgency and influence institutions, committees and public policy.
