New Delhi: The national capital has been put on high alert ahead of Republic Day, with Delhi Police deploying more than 30,000 personnel across the city as part of an extensive security operation.

Around 10,000 police personnel have been stationed in the New Delhi district alone to secure Kartavya Path, key government buildings and other high-security zones linked to the ceremonial parade.

Security arrangements include multi-layered barricading, strict checking at entry and exit points, and increased vigilance at public places such as railway stations, bus terminals and crowded marketplaces. Delhi Police have also activated over 3,000 CCTV cameras across sensitive locations to enable round-the-clock monitoring.

Advanced technology forms a key part of the security plan. Police personnel are using AI-based facial recognition systems and smart surveillance tools to identify suspicious activity in real time. Mobile surveillance vehicles and quick response teams have been positioned at strategic locations to ensure rapid action if required.

Authorities have strengthened coordination with neighbouring states and central security agencies to ensure seamless intelligence sharing and effective crowd management. Public advisories have been issued, urging citizens to cooperate with security personnel, follow traffic restrictions and avoid carrying prohibited items during the celebrations.

The heightened security measures are aimed at ensuring the smooth and safe conduct of Republic Day events in the capital, as dignitaries, foreign guests and thousands of spectators gather to witness the annual parade.
