New Delhi: The Delhi Police have been placed on high alert following a powerful explosion near the Red Fort metro station that killed 12 people and left several others injured. Officials confirmed on Wednesday that extensive checking operations are underway across the national capital to prevent any further threats.
What security measures have been implemented?
Police teams, assisted by paramilitary forces, have been deployed in large numbers at all major entry and exit routes to Delhi. According to officials, vehicles entering or leaving the city are being thoroughly inspected as part of the heightened security arrangements.
Senior officers are personally overseeing security checks at key interstate borders, including Ghazipur, Singhu, Tikri and Badarpur. Random inspections are also being conducted at markets, metro stations, railway terminals and bus stands to monitor movement and ensure no suspicious activity goes unnoticed.

A senior police officer stated that all district units and specialised branches have been instructed to remain on alert and increase patrolling, particularly in crowded areas and near public attractions.

How are authorities strengthening surveillance?
Sniffer dogs, metal detectors and anti-sabotage teams have been deployed at sensitive locations to strengthen preventive measures. The police have also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious items or individuals through the city’s emergency helplines.
Officials confirmed that regular coordination meetings are being held between the Delhi Police, the Intelligence Bureau and paramilitary units to review the situation and assess all available intelligence linked to the explosion.
Authorities said that the reinforced security measures would continue until further notice, with all agencies maintaining close coordination to safeguard the capital.
