Indian Railways’ Delhi division platform ticket ban: Reason, duration, and exemptions explained

New Delhi: The Indian Railways has temporarily suspended the sale of platform tickets at four major railway stations, under the Delhi division, according to reports, to ensure smooth passenger movement and safe boarding and alighting during the festive rush.
Timeline of suspension
According to an official press release, the restriction on platform ticket sales will remain in force until November 11, 2025.
Who can avail the tickets?
Tickets may still be issued to senior citizens, passengers with illnesses, children, and women requiring assistance, in line with existing departmental guidelines.
Stations affected
As per the latest notification issued by the Ministry of Railways, platform ticket sales have been suspended at the following stations in the Delhi division:
- New Delhi Railway Station
- Delhi Junction
- Anand Vihar Terminal
- Anand Vihar Halt
