New Delhi: Delhi’s newly sworn-in Chief Minister Rekha Gupta chaired her first cabinet meeting on Thursday evening at the Delhi Secretariat, where her government discussed major policy directions, including the implementation of Ayushman Bharat, an investigation into alleged corruption under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, and urban development plans.

The meeting, attended by all six cabinet ministers, marked the beginning of the BJP’s governance in Delhi after a 27-year gap.

Earlier in the day, Gupta took the oath of office at a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior BJP leaders. Following the swearing-in, she visited the Secretariat to formally take charge and later participated in a Yamuna Aarti, underscoring her administration’s commitment to environmental and cultural initiatives.

During the cabinet meeting, Gupta reaffirmed her commitment to making Delhi a "Viksit Bharat" model city, stating, "We will not waste a single day. Our government will work continuously to fulfill its promises." Sources suggest that major governance decisions were taken in the meeting, including a plan to table the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report in the Delhi Assembly.

"Providing quality healthcare to Delhi’s citizens is a priority. We will ensure Ayushman Bharat reaches all eligible residents," Gupta stated.

The BJP has criticised the previous AAP government for not presenting the CAG report, with Prime Minister Modi earlier stating that it would be among the first tasks of the new administration. The cabinet is also expected to focus on infrastructure improvements, pollution control, and public health initiatives in the coming days.

The BJP won 48 out of 70 Assembly seats in the elections, while AAP secured 22 seats, and Congress failed to win any. Further announcements regarding governance priorities and policy implementations are expected soon as the new government sets its agenda for Delhi.
