Shocking twist in DU acid attack case: victim’s father arrested for rape, admitted using toilet cleaner

New Delhi: In a shocking twist to the alleged acid attack near Laxmi Bai College, Delhi Police on Monday arrested the father of the 20-year-old Delhi University student who claimed to be the victim. The man, identified as Akeel Khan, was booked for allegedly raping the wife of the prime accused in the supposed attack.
According to officials, the DU student, a second-year BCom candidate enrolled with the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board, had on Sunday accused Jitender Singh and his brothers, Ishan and Arman, of throwing acid on her while she was heading to an extra class session.
However, the investigation took a turn when Jitender's wife came forward, alleging that Akeel Khan had raped her and that she had previously filed a complaint against him. Acting on her statement, police detained Khan for questioning, during which he confessed that the acid attack story was fabricated. He reportedly admitted the liquid used was a common toilet cleaner.
Police sources also noted inconsistencies in the student’s initial claim and confirmed that Jitender was not at the alleged crime scene during the purported attack.
