Woman scams man through dating app, tricks him into paying huge restaurant bill

New Delhi: In a shocking post that’s gaining attention on Reddit, a man from Delhi revealed how he was scammed after meeting a woman through a dating app. The man shared his story in detail, warning others to be cautious while meeting people online.

According to the post, the man matched with a woman on a dating app, and after chatting for a while, they agreed to meet in person. She suggested a public place and shared the location of Bagheera Cafe in Hudson Lane. He went along with the plan.

"When I met her outside the cafe, she encouraged me to go in, but I immediately had a bad feeling," he wrote.

Inside, they were handed menus, and the woman placed her order. But soon after, she excused herself, saying she needed to use the restroom. Later, he realised that, she had used the fire escape instead to leave.

When the waiter brought the food, she didn’t touch any of it. She only drank what appeared to be vodka shots, but the man later found out they were just water.

The expensive surprise

The date took a strange turn when the woman started pretending to get urgent calls from home. Within minutes, she claimed to have a headache and insisted on leaving. Before the man could react, she walked out of the cafe. The waiter quickly handed him the bill, which left him stunned.

“I was given a bill for Rs 17,170. When I asked for a discount, they only offered 10 percent off food items and forced me to pay Rs 16,000. To make things worse, when I tried to pay by card, they added a 4 percent charge, forcing me to pay in cash.”

A bigger scam unveiled

Hours later, when the man returned to the cafe with a friend , he spotted the same woman sitting with another man. When they tried to enter, security stopped them, knowing the woman was involved in scamming patrons.

"It seems like this scam has been going on for years, with different men falling for the same trick," said a reddit user.

Not the first time

This isn’t the first time such a scam has surfaced online. A similar Reddit post recently went viral, where a man from Thane claimed he was scammed on a Tinder date. He ended up with a shocking bill of Rs 44,000 at a restaurant.
