Gandhinagar crane collapse: 10-15 workers feared trapped, four rescued

A portion of an under-construction commercial building collapsed in Gujarat's Gandhinagar on Wednesday night, leaving around 10 to 15 construction workers feared trapped beneath the debris and triggering a large-scale rescue operation.

The incident took place around 9:15 pm at the 'Bosky The Empire' construction site in the Kudasan area.

According to initial information, an iron slab was being erected between two units when the structure suddenly gave way, causing a loud crash.

Around 10 to 15 workers are believed to have been present at the site when the collapse occurred.

Four workers were rescued initially and shifted to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital for treatment. One of the injured workers was reportedly in critical condition.

Soon after the incident, a police team and more than four fire brigade vehicles reached the site.

Rescue personnel began removing heavy iron structures and concrete debris in an effort to reach workers who may still be trapped underneath.

'As soon as the information was received, a local police team and four fire brigade vehicles rushed to the scene. A rescue operation is being carried out on a war footing,' an official said.

Ambulances have also been deployed at the site to provide immediate medical assistance to those rescued or injured. Rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate and evacuate workers feared trapped under the debris.
