New Delhi :Congress leader and spokesperson Supriya Shrinate has levelled allegations of financial impropriety against senior BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, claiming an unexplained surge in his family's wealth over the past 15 years. Speaking at a press briefing, Shrinate revealed that the Lokpal has sought a response from Dubey within four weeks in connection with a complaint filed against him.

Shrinate pointed to discrepancies in the movable and immovable assets declared in Dubey's election affidavits, particularly those in the name of his wife. “In 2009, his wife’s assets were worth around ₹50 lakh. By 2024, this figure had surged to approximately ₹32 crore. However, there’s no corresponding increase in their declared income to justify such a rise. This is a classic case of disproportionate assets,” she alleged.

She further cited Dubey’s 2024 affidavit, which mentions a ₹1.2 crore loan taken from one Abhishek Jha. “What is interesting is that Jha himself contested elections against Dubey as an independent candidate and denies ever having given such a loan. There’s no mention of this loan in Jha’s affidavit either. So, whose money is this?” Shrinate questioned.

She emphasized that the issue is now before the Lokpal, which has taken cognizance of the complaint and initiated a probe into the matter. “The Lokpal is investigating it. But as an MP, the BJP, being the ruling party, should provide clarification on this and answer the public's questions.,” she added.

Nishikant Dubey is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and currently serves as a Member of the 18th Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's Parliament. Representing the Godda constituency in Jharkhand, Dubey has held the seat since 2009, securing consecutive victories in the general elections of 2009, 2014, 2019, and most recently in 2024.
