New Delhi: Sources close to the Election Commission of India stated that the assembly elections will be declared in states including Kerala after considering the exam dates for class 10, 12 students. The Election Commission held talks with CBSE and CISCE authorities in this regard. As per reports, the commission will also take Ramzan month into account before declaring the dates.

More than half of the election booths will be set up in schools. Most of the officials deployed on election duty are teachers. Election Commission considers the difficulty in conducting elections and exams together.

The Union Ministry of Education has decided to conduct CBSE exams between May 4 and June 10. CISCE is yet to declare the exam dates. In Kerala, exams will be held from March 17 to March 30 for class 10 and 12.

Ramzan will be celebrated in the second week of April this time. The Commission expects that the political parties in Kerala and Bengal will raise this issue as it would be difficult for members of Muslim community to take part in election works.

The Election Commissioner or Commission members will visit the states where elections are scheduled to take place before declaring the dates. The State Electoral Officer’s recommendation to conduct the polls in Kerala in two phases will be considered only after this visit. Election dates will be declared towards the end of February or beginning of March.
