Centre approves 14 judicial officers for 4 High Courts following Supreme Court Collegium recommendations

New Delhi: The Union Government has notified the appointment of 14 judicial officers as judges and additional judges across four High Courts—Delhi, Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh—following recommendations by the Supreme Court Collegium.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal announced on X that the President made the appointments in consultation with the Chief Justice of India (CJI), as empowered by the Constitution of India.

The appointments across the High Courts are structured as follows:

• Delhi High Court: Nivedita Anil Sharma and Nisha Sahay Saxena have been appointed as permanent judges, while Sanjay Sharma, Bharat Parashar, Dr. Aditi Choudhary, Dinesh Bhatt, and Arun Bhardwaj have been named additional judges.

• Jharkhand High Court: Manoj Prasad, Akhil Kumar, and Ram Sharma have been appointed as permanent judges.

• Karnataka High Court: Usharani, K.S. Bharath Kumar, and Nerale V. Bhavani (Nerale Veerabhadraiah Bhavani) have been appointed as additional judges.

• Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court: Yash Paul Bourney has been appointed as a permanent judge.

These notifications stem from decisions cleared during the Supreme Court Collegium meeting held on September 10, 2026, led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. (IANS)
