CCTV shows Congress MLA’s son trying to run over cops in MP; booked for attempted murder | VIDEO

Alirajpur: The son of a Congress MLA from Madhya Pradesh has been booked for attempted murder after allegedly trying to run over two police constables with an SUV in Alirajpur district earlier this week. The accused, Pushpraj Singh, son of Jobat MLA Sena Patel, is currently absconding as police intensify their manhunt.
The incident took place near the Alirajpur bus stand and was captured on CCTV footage, which has since gone viral. In the video, two constables are seen attempting to stop a speeding SUV that lacked a registration plate. Instead of complying, the driver allegedly accelerated the vehicle directly toward them. Both officers narrowly avoided being hit, and the SUV crashed into a roadside pole.
One of the constables, Rakesh Gujaria, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital. Police identified Singh based on eyewitness accounts and the injured constables' statements.
Alirajpur Kotwali Police have filed an FIR under charges of attempt to murder and initiated a full-scale search operation. A special task force led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police has been formed to trace the accused.
Accused's father calls press meet to blame police
The case has sparked a political storm. Singh’s father, Mahesh Patel, held a press conference accusing the police of exaggerating the incident due to political motives. “This was a minor accident, but it's being portrayed as an attempted murder. We will move the High Court against this unjust action,” he said.
Backing her son, MLA Sena Patel also claimed the charges were part of a 'politically motivated conspiracy.' She vowed to raise the issue in the state assembly and said she would take the matter up with the Chief Minister.
Despite the political backlash, authorities are standing firm. The CCTV footage clearly shows a deliberate attempt to mow down the policemen.
Police are also investigating how the vehicle, which had no number plate, was operating on public roads without being flagged earlier.
