Kolkata: Officials from the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the CBI have uncovered important documents linked to financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital. The recovery took place on Tuesday night when EOW agents acted on specific information.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the team headed to a locked closet in a particular room. Unable to locate the key, they broke the lock to access the documents inside. These documents are believed to involve various financial transactions and tender records from the time when former Principal Sandip Ghosh was in charge.

The newly found documents are expected to provide crucial insights into how Ghosh manipulated tenders and work orders to favour certain contractors and suppliers.

The CBI is currently investigating Ghosh on two fronts. The EOW team, based in Kolkata's Nizam Palace office, is focusing on financial irregularities, while another group from the Special Crime Unit in Salt Lake is looking into the case involving the rape and murder of a junior doctor at the hospital in August.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also probing potential money-laundering linked to the financial misconduct.

Ghosh, along with the former SHO of Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mondal, is scheduled to appear in a special court in Kolkata regarding the rape and murder case. Following a polygraph test, the CBI has requested a narco-analysis test for Ghosh and has also applied for a polygraph test for Mondal.
