AAP sarpanch shot dead during wedding ceremony in Amritsar; probe underway

Amritsar: An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sarpanch, Jarnail Singh, a resident of Valtoha, was shot dead by two unidentified outsiders during a wedding function at a resort in Amritsar, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred at Marigold Palace, where the victim had gone to attend wedding celebrations. According to the police, the attackers opened fire and fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagjit Walia confirmed the incident and said an investigation is underway.
“This is Marigold Palace. We have just learned that a person named Jarnail Singh, a resident of Valtoha, was shot dead. The police are investigating the incident. We are at the location and working on the case,” Walia said.
Police teams have reached the spot and launched a probe to identify the assailants and ascertain the motive behind the killing.
