BJP leaders Shankar Ghosh and Khagen Murmu allegedly attacked in West Bengal’s Nagrakata

Nagrakata (West Bengal): BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh has alleged that he, along with Malda North MP Khagen Murmu, was attacked in Nagrakata, North Bengal, while distributing relief materials to those affected by recent floods and landslides in the state.
Amit Malviya, BJP Co-incharge for West Bengal, condemned the incident and blamed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, calling it "TMC's jungle raj."
Posting a video of the alleged attack on X, Amit Malviya wrote, "TMC's Jungle Raj in Bengal! BJP MP Khagen Murmu, a respected tribal leader and two-time MP from North Malda, was attacked by TMC goons while on his way to Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri's Dooars region to help with relief and rescue efforts after devastating rains, floods, and landslides."
Malviya further accused the ruling party of targeting BJP workers engaged in relief efforts, while Mamata Banerjee and the TMC leadership remain absent.
"While Mamata Banerjee dances at her Kolkata Carnival, the TMC and state administration are missing in action. Those actually helping the people, BJP leaders and karyakartas, are being attacked for doing relief work. This is TMC's Bengal, where cruelty rules and compassion is punished," he added.
More details on the attack are awaited.
Meanwhile, the state grapples with the aftermath of the calamity, with 18 people reported dead and over 40 villagers displaced by a massive landslide in Darjeeling. The displaced have taken shelter in a relief camp set up at a community hall in Mirik. ANI
