Over 14,000 voters aged above 100 years likely to cast votes this time in Bihar

Patna: Bihar’s electoral rolls reveal around 14,000 registered voters aged over 100, according to data released by the Election Commission (EC). However, the number of ‘very senior citizens’—those aged 85 and above—has sharply declined following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter lists.
On January 1, the state had approximately 1.6 million voters aged over 85, but this figure dropped to just over 400,000 after the revision process.
The revision also saw a reduction in the number of female voters, from 37.2 million to 34.9 million, while male voters decreased from 40.7 million to 39.2 million. Voters identifying as third gender fell from 2,104 to 1,725.
The EC did not release district-wise age data or specify how many voters were removed due to death.
Ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, scheduled in two phases on November 6 and 11, the total number of voters was revised from 78.9 million to 74.3 million. The revision process involved the deletion of 6.5 million names and the addition of 2.15 million new voters through Form 6 applications.
The draft electoral rolls were published on August 1, listing 72.4 million electors, which was later updated to the final count after removing ineligible voters.
