Patna: In a major development in the Chandan Mishra murder case, two alleged miscreants, Balwant Kumar Singh and Ravi Ranjan Kumar Singh, were injured in an encounter with the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and Bhojpur Police on Tuesday. Both individuals have been arrested and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital, where they have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the July 17 killing. Police also seized two pistols and one magazine from their possession.

This encounter follows earlier arrests made by law enforcement. On Sunday, Patna SSP Kartikey K Sharma had announced the arrest of four key accused in Kolkata: the main shooter Tausif Khan alias Badshah, along with Nishu Khan, Harsh, and Bheem. These arrests were the result of a joint operation by Patna Police, Kolkata Police, and the Kolkata STF. SSP Sharma stated that the murder plot was meticulously planned at Nishu Khan's residence, located behind Paras HMRI Hospital in Patna, where the crime occurred.

Chandan Mishra, a known criminal with a history of numerous murder cases, was shot dead while admitted to Paras Hospital in Patna for treatment, having been out on parole for medical attention. Unidentified assailants barged into his ward and opened fire. Police believe the murder was a result of gang rivalry, with the mastermind thought to be Mishra's former associate, Onkarnath Singh alias Sheru, who is currently lodged in West Bengal's Purulia jail.

SSP Sharma had previously confirmed that a total of nine people were directly involved in Mishra's murder. While four have been arrested in Kolkata and two more in the recent encounter, the police stated that four other accused are still at large and efforts are underway to apprehend them. The weapons used in the murder have yet to be recovered.
