Two injured as stones hurled at temple chariot during religious procession in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Two people, including a child, were injured after unidentified people allegedly hurled stones at devotees pulling a temple chariot during a religious procession in Bengaluru’s Jagjeevan Ram Nagar area on Sunday night, police said.
The incident occurred during a procession from the Om Shakti temple, when miscreants reportedly targeted the chariot mid-route. Police confirmed they have received a complaint alleging stone-pelting during the event.
According to sources, a child sustained a head injury, while a young girl was also struck on the head in the incident. Both were taken for medical treatment. Their condition was reported to be stable.
Following the incident, angry devotees gathered outside the Jagjeevan Ram Nagar police station and staged a protest, demanding immediate action against those responsible. Protesters alleged that similar attacks had occurred in the locality in the past and insisted on the registration of a First Information Report (FIR).
Police officials said an FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway to identify the accused.
West Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Yatish NB visited the police station to review the situation and assess security arrangements. Police assured residents and devotees that strict action would be taken once those involved are identified.
“Necessary action will be taken against those involved once their identities are established,” a senior police officer said.
