Bengaluru Traffic Police have imposed extensive traffic restrictions and parking bans near Lalbagh Botanical Garden to manage the expected influx of visitors during the Independence Day Flower Show, which runs until August 18. The event, organised by the Department of Horticulture, is anticipated to attract between 800,000 and 1 million attendees, including schoolchildren, dignitaries, foreign tourists, and local residents.

Authorities have urged visitors to avoid private vehicles and instead use public transportation such as the Metro, BMTC buses or cabs to ease congestion.

No-parking stretches

Parking will be strictly prohibited on the following roads throughout the event:

  • Dr Marigowda Road, from Lalbagh Main Gate to NIMHANS, both sides
  • KH Road, between KH Circle and Shantinagar Junction, both sides
  • Lalbagh Road, from Subbaiah Circle to Lalbagh Main Gate, both sides
  • Siddaiah Road, from Urvashi Theatre Junction to Wilson Garden 12th Cross, both sides
  • BTS Road, from BMTC Junction towards the post office
  • Krumbigal Road, both sides
  • Lalbagh West Gate to RV Teachers College
  • RV Teachers College to Ashoka Pillar
  • Ashoka Pillar to Siddapura Junction

Designated parking zones

To accommodate visitors, specific parking areas have been allocated:

  • Dr Marigowda Road near Al-Ameen College (two-wheelers only)
  • KH Road at Shantinagar BMTC multi-storey parking (two- and four-wheelers)
  • Dr Marigowda Road at Hopcoms parking lot (two- and four-wheelers)
  • JC Road at Corporation parking lot (two- and four-wheelers)

Alternative routes

Motorists are advised to use alternate paths to avoid affected areas:

  • From Dairy Circle: Take a right at 10th Cross Junction, then proceed via 8th Main Road, Wilson Garden Main Road, KH Road, and towards Market or Majestic.
  • From Urvashi Junction on Lalbagh Road: Turn left onto H Siddaiah Road, continue on Wilson Garden Main Road, then Dairy Circle.
  • From KH Road: Turn left at BMTC Junction, proceed via BTS Road to Bannerghatta Road.

The police have emphasised adherence to these restrictions to ensure smooth traffic flow and a safe experience for visitors attending the popular flower show.
