Hidden camera found in women’s toilet at Bengaluru Sandhya Theatre in Madiwala; Youth detained

A shocking breach of privacy was reported at a cinema hall in Bengaluru, after a hidden camera was discovered inside the women’s toilet, triggering panic among moviegoers and swift police action.

The incident occurred at Sandhya Theatre, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Madiwala police station. The device was found when women stepped out to use the washroom during a screening of the re-released Telugu film ‘Nuvvu Naaku Nachav’.

According to police sources, the camera was spotted concealed inside the toilet area, prompting immediate alarm. Locals and cinema patrons reportedly caught the youth suspected of installing the device and handed him over to the police. Before officers reached the spot, the accused was allegedly assaulted by members of the public, reflecting the intense anger over the incident.

Police have taken the youth into custody and launched a detailed interrogation to determine his motive. Investigators are also examining whether any footage was recorded, stored, or circulated, and if others were involved in the act.

Officials said further legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation, including a forensic examination of the device. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about women’s safety and privacy in public spaces, particularly inside entertainment venues.
