Bengaluru: Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Bengaluru and Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport Delhi have issued advisories warning passengers of potential flight delays and road traffic congestion due to dense fog and low visibility over the coming days.

At Bengaluru, airport authorities cautioned that foggy conditions, particularly during early morning hours, may slow flight operations and affect traffic on routes leading to the airport. Travellers have been urged to arrive well in advance to complete check-in, security and other travel formalities, and to stay in regular contact with their airlines for real-time flight updates. The airport also shared helpline numbers and assured passengers that measures are in place to manage disruptions.

IndiGo Airlines issued a similar advisory, noting that early morning fog across Northern India could occasionally slow flight movements. The airline stated that its ground and operations teams are fully prepared, making necessary adjustments to minimise inconvenience and ensure passenger comfort during waiting periods.

Meanwhile, Delhi Airport posted a fog advisory on X (formerly Twitter), warning that flight operations are gradually recovering, but some departures and arrivals may still face disruptions. Passengers were advised to contact airlines directly for accurate flight schedules, while ground staff remain deployed across terminals to provide support.

The warnings come amid dense fog and poor air quality in Delhi, where the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 378 at 8 am on Tuesday, placing the city in the ‘very poor’ category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Authorities at both airports have urged travellers to plan ahead, monitor weather updates, and exercise patience, as winter fog continues to impact air traffic movement and road connectivity in the national capital and Bengaluru.
