Counting of votes for the Barpeta (SC) Assembly constituency in Assam concluded on Monday as part of the statewide counting exercise for all 126 seats of the Assam Legislative Assembly. The counting process, which began at 8 am with postal ballots followed by EVM verification, was conducted under strict security arrangements across designated centres.
In the final result, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate Dipak Kumar Das secured victory in the constituency, defeating Independent candidate Gagan Chandra Haloi by a margin of 47,402 votes. With this, the counting process in the seat came to a close after a closely monitored tabulation of votes.

In the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, the Barpeta (SC) seat was won by the Indian National Congress. The party’s candidate, Abdur Rahim Ahmed, secured 111,083 votes.
