Patna: Arif Mohammad Khan was sworn in as the new governor of Bihar during a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice of Patna High Court, Justice K Vinod Chandran.

The event was attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, along with other state officials and dignitaries. Khan replaces Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who has been appointed as the governor of Kerala.

Upon his arrival in Patna on Monday, Khan told reporters at the airport that he would fulfill his duties in line with the state's proud traditions. “I know the glorious history of Bihar. It has an impact on me. I will try to discharge my duties in accordance with the heritage and glorious tradition of the state,” he had said.

Meanwhile, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was sworn in as the 23rd Governor of Kerala during a ceremony at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, Justice Nitin Jamdar, at 10:30 am. Arlekar arrived in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, where he was welcomed at the international airport by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala Assembly Speaker A N Shamseer, and ministers K Rajan and Ramachandran Kadannappally.

Last week, President Droupadi Murmu appointed Arlekar as the new Governor of Kerala, while naming Arif Mohammad Khan as the Governor of Bihar.
