Meet Anmol, the buffalo that’s costlier than a Rolls-Royce: Here's what makes him special | VIDEO

A Murrah buffalo named Anmol, from Sirsa district in Haryana, has caught the attention of people across the country, not just for his massive build and shiny coat but also for his extraordinary value. At Rs 23 crore, Anmol is said to be one of the most expensive buffaloes in India, drawing comparisons to luxury cars and high-end properties.
Why is Anmol worth ₹23 crore?
Anmol is a pure Murrah breed, renowned for its quality and breeding potential. This makes him highly sought-after in livestock markets. The eight-year-old buffalo’s estimated worth rivals that of two Rolls-Royce vehicles or premium property in metro cities. According to reports, Anmol’s owner, Gill, once sold the buffalo’s mother and sister to manage his expenses. Interestingly, Anmol’s mother used to yield around 25 litres of milk daily.
The business of semen
The bulk of Anmol’s commercial value lies in semen collection. As reported, semen is extracted twice a week and is capable of impregnating up to 400 buffaloes per session. Each dose is reportedly priced at Rs 250. This gives Gill an estimated monthly income of RS 5 lakh from semen sales alone.
Anmol’s diet
To maintain his hefty weight of 1,500 kgs and glossy appearance, Anmol follows a strict and rich diet. As per reports, his daily intake includes:
- 250 grams of almonds
- 4 kilograms of pomegranates
- 30 bananas
- 5 litres of milk
- 20 eggs
In addition, he is fed green fodder, soybeans, corn, ghee, and oil cake. The daily cost of this elaborate diet is around Rs 1,500.
Grooming and daily routine
Anmol is bathed twice a day with a mix of almond and mustard oil to maintain his coat and skin. Grooming is a part of his daily care, ensuring he remains healthy and presentable.
Celebrity buffalo: Public appearances
Over the years, Anmol has been showcased at several fairs and events. He has made appearances at the Pushkar Mela and the All-India Farmers’ Fair in Meerut, where he attracted large crowds.
Despite the cost and effort required to look after him, Gill sees Anmol as much more than a prized animal. For him, Anmol is family.
