Washim (Maharashtra): Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Thursday called the petition filed by Disha Salian’s father seeking a CBI probe and an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray a possible conspiracy.

Speaking to reporters, Deshmukh said, "I am taking information on the plea filed by Disha Salian’s father. All this now looks like a part of a conspiracy."

Political reactions intensify

Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant urged restraint, stating, "It is not right to make political comments and do politics on this."

Meanwhile, NCP-SCP MLA Rohit Pawar alleged that the BJP will politicise the issue ahead of upcoming elections in Bihar and Mumbai.

"Disha Salian’s father has gone to court. He has named Aaditya Thackeray, but we are sure Aaditya Thackeray has nothing to do with this. We are with him, but let the court decide," Pawar said.

He further claimed that the BJP would use the case for political gain, similar to how the Sushant Singh Rajput case was allegedly used during past Bihar elections.

"Four years ago, Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide. Immediately after, such banners were put up in Bihar only for the elections. Now, after four years, the BJP will take this issue forward because elections are due in Bihar in four months and in Mumbai in six months," he added.

Background of the case

Disha Salian, a former talent manager, was found dead on 8 June 2020, days before Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his Bandra flat on 14 June 2020.

In 2023, the Mumbai Police formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe Salian’s death, registering it as an accidental death case.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s death at age 34 sparked a massive controversy, leading to a CBI investigation. His post-mortem report from Cooper Hospital, Mumbai, cited asphyxia as the cause of death.
