Monsoon Progress Offers Hope of Relief
Amid the harsh conditions, meteorologists have reported increasing monsoon activity over the Arabian Sea. An upper-air cyclonic circulation has formed over the region, extending across Lakshadweep and parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Rayalaseema at an altitude between 3.1 km and 5.8 km above sea level.
Weather experts say the southwest monsoon is gradually strengthening and is expected to reach Kerala by 26 May, potentially bringing much-needed relief from the prolonged heatwave affecting southern India.
