Amit Shah Assam visit: BJP campaign intensifies ahead of Assembly Elections 2026

Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Assam for a two-day campaign tour as the Assam Assembly Elections 2026 approach. The visit is expected to boost the BJP’s election campaign across key constituencies in the state.

Shah will arrive in Guwahati on Saturday evening and will begin his campaign with a major roadshow in support of BJP candidate Vijay Gupta from the Guwahati Central constituency. The roadshow is scheduled to start from Arya Vidyapeeth Playground and pass through several parts of the city, drawing attention from party supporters and voters.

After the public event, the Union Minister will hold a meeting with BJP state leaders and office bearers to review election strategies and strengthen coordination ahead of polling.

On Sunday, Amit Shah will continue his campaign in other parts of the state. He is scheduled to address a public gathering at the Dhekiajuli Tea Estate ground in Sonitpur district, campaigning for minister Ashok Singhal.

Later, he will travel to Nalbari district, where he will hold another rally in Tihu, supporting minister Chandramohan Patowary. The rally will take place at the Chamata Higher Secondary School field.

Second visit planned for Barak Valley

Amit Shah is also scheduled to return to Assam on April 2 for further campaigning in the Barak Valley region. During this visit, he will campaign for Minister Krishnendu Paul in Sribhumi district and former MP Rajdeep Roy in Silchar.

Assam Elections 2026: Key dates

The Assam Assembly Elections 2026 will be held on April 9 for all 126 constituencies, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4. The upcoming polls are expected to witness a high-voltage campaign, with major political leaders actively reaching out to voters.
