Kerala Police not presenting MLAs, MPs accused in criminal cases for trial, Amicus Curiae to SC

New Delhi: The report filed by Amicus Curiae stated that Kerala Police is not ready to arrest the MLAs and MPs, who are accused in criminal cases and submit them for trial. The report filed in Supreme Court by Amicus Curiae Vijay Hansariya also stated that they have informed this to the High Court.
Amicus Curiae asked the Supreme Court to file contempt of court case and other disciplinary actions against public representatives who do not appear for trial procedures even after being served with warrant or summons. He also recommended that contempt of court actions should be taken against the SPs if police do not take action as per the warrant or summons.
The new report filed in the Supreme Court mentioned that there are 324 cases in Kerala in which the MPs and MLAs from the state have been accused.
The Supreme Court bench chaired by Justice NV Ramana had instructed High Court Chief Justices to expedite the trial in criminal cases in which MLAs and MPs are accused. Supreme Court had also asked the High Courts to inform the reasons why the trial in different cases got delayed.
