Aluva: Police have registered a case against a doctor for allegedly administering an overdose of medication to a six-month-old baby at Aluva District Hospital.

The case has been registered against Dr Habna Rubshiq of Aluva District Hospital based on a complaint lodged by the infant's father. The incident reportedly took place on April 29.

According to the complaint, the baby was given an excessive dose of liquid paracetamol to reduce a fever that developed after receiving a vaccination. The alleged error occurred while the medicine was being administered using a filler.

The overdose is said to have caused discomfort and other health complications. The infant was subsequently admitted to a private hospital, where the child underwent treatment for around five days.

The First Information Report (FIR) states that the family spent approximately ₹8,000 on the baby's treatment at the private hospital.

Aluva West Police have registered a case against the doctor under Section 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
