Akasa Air achieves IATA’s safety audit registration in just three years

Akasa Air has achieved a major milestone by securing the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) registration, an international benchmark for airline safety and operations. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Akasa earned this recognition in just a little over three years since it began flying, and did so voluntarily.
Capt. Gaurav Pathak, Chief of Flight Safety at Akasa Air, said the certification reflects the strong safety culture the airline has built since day one. “Achieving IOSA registration in just over three years is a significant milestone for Akasa and a testament to the discipline, professionalism, and safety mindset demonstrated by our teams across the organisation. We remain committed to continuously strengthening our systems and processes as we scale and serve more passengers across India and beyond,” he said.
IOSA is a globally recognised audit program created by IATA to evaluate an airline’s operational safety and management processes. The audit covers all major areas of airline functioning, including flight operations, engineering and maintenance, cabin operations, ground handling, cargo, security, and organisational systems.
Since launching in August 2022, Akasa Air has focused on building a strong foundation of safety, reliability, and training. The airline has put in place international-standard procedures, continuous improvement practices, and rigorous training programmes for its teams.
By completing the IOSA audit so early in its journey, Akasa Air has strengthened its global credibility and joined a select group of airlines that meet the highest international safety and operational standards. The certification also reinforces Akasa’s commitment to safe and dependable air travel as the airline expands its network across India and looks at future international growth.
