New Delhi: National Security Adviser Ajit Doval arrived at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad to receive former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who had arrived in the country following her departure from Bangladesh amid recent protests.

The aircraft carrying former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her entourage landed at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad on Monday evening. Several reports cited that she will be leaving for London soon.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been briefed on the Bangladesh situation by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

After Hasina left the country, the house of Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was also reportedly set on fire in Dhanmondi, an upscale area of the Bangladesh capital.

Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman confirmed the news of her resignation and said that an interim government will be formed soon to run the country.

The Army chief also said he will meet President Mohammed Shahabuddin soon to chart the future course of action.

More than 100 people have been killed in the protests against the Hasina government in the last two days.

The country has been witnessing fierce demonstrations over the controversial quota system that reserves 30 percent of jobs for the families of veterans who fought in the 1971 Liberation War.
