After PM Modi's warning, Delhi HC launches special fast-track court for paper leak offenders

The Delhi High Court has designated a special fast-track court to exclusively hear criminal cases related to paper leaks and other unfair practices in public examinations.

The decision follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement that dedicated fast-track courts would be established to ensure speedy trials in such cases. 

According to a notification issued by the High Court on Thursday, the court of Judicial Officer Anu Grover Baliga has been assigned as the Specially Designated Fast Track Court. It will hear cases registered under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, along with other connected offences. The court will operate from the Rouse Avenue Court Complex in Delhi.

The development comes at a time when protests over the alleged NEET paper leak continue across the country, with students demanding accountability and stricter action against those responsible.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated that safeguarding the future of the country's youth remains a key priority for the government.

Stressing a zero-tolerance approach towards examination fraud, he announced the creation of fast-track courts to ensure that those involved in paper leaks face swift and strict punishment.

Later on Thursday night, the Prime Minister said in a video message that he had received the draft of a tough new law to tackle paper leaks, adding that it would be taken up for discussion at the Union Cabinet meeting on Friday.

He also acknowledged the anxiety caused by paper leaks, saying the issue had deeply affected lakhs of students and their parents, and noted that several accused had already been arrested and jailed following the incidents.
