Mumbai: A new software, ‘Adalat AI,’ has been introduced with the aim of simplifying court proceedings across the country. Developed with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the software enables real-time translation of court proceedings into different languages. The innovation allows users to translate statements made during case trials into any required language instantly.

Supreme Court lawyer Utkarsh Saxena and Artificial Intelligence-Machine Learning engineer Arghya Bhattacharya are the founders of Adalat AI. The software is designed to provide seamless translation services during court trials. Users can specify the language they need for a statement, and the software will translate it in real time.

Additionally, the software can convert judgments, originally delivered in Hindi or English, into a language the defendant understands. This process also enables the simultaneous translation and delivery of the judgment in another language. Lawyers believe this will make evidence collection and witness testimonies more efficient.

Utkarsh Saxena, the CEO and co-founder of Adalat AI, mentioned that this software is already being used in some courts in Kerala and across the country.

“When a judge delivers a verdict, it is first transcribed and then translated, with errors corrected, and re-checked before being issued. This process can take days. With Adalat AI, once the verdict is announced, it can be translated into any required language and delivered immediately. It ensures that the judgment remains secure and can’t be leaked prematurely,” Saxena said.

He further explained that the software can also help when multiple witnesses speak different languages. The testimony of each witness can be recorded and translated, allowing judges to view the translation in real time on their screens.

Kerala High Court lawyer Anil Kumar emphasized, “This software not only eliminates delays in court proceedings but also ensures cases are not held up. The ability to translate and share witness testimonies and judgments in real-time will significantly reduce time delays in court processes.”
