Bengaluru hit-and-run case: Actress Divya Suresh driving vehicle at time of accident, say police

Bengaluru: Bengaluru police on Friday said Kannada actress Divya Suresh was allegedly driving the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident in Byatarayanapura earlier this month that left three people injured.
According to officials, the incident took place in the early hours of October 4, when a speeding black car hit a motorcycle carrying three riders — Kiran G, and his cousins Anusha and Anitha — before fleeing the scene.
Police said the car belonged to the actress, and CCTV footage from the area confirmed that she was allegedly driving it at the time of the crash.
“In the course of the investigation, footage from cameras in the locality established that the car involved was registered to Divya Suresh and that she was allegedly driving it,” a senior police officer said. “Further investigation in the matter is underway,” he added.
While Kiran (25) and Anusha (24) sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation, Anitha (33) suffered a fractured leg and underwent surgery at BGS Hospital, according to the complaint.
A case was registered on October 7 under Sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, police said.
Meanwhile, the authorities have yet to formally record the actress’s statement.
