New Delhi: A 20-year-old woman suffered acid burn injuries after being attacked near Laxmi Bai College in north Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area on Sunday morning, police said.

According to the Delhi Police, a call regarding the incident was received from Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital about the admission of the victim, a resident of Mukundpur.

The woman, a second-year non-college student, told police that while she was walking towards the college, her acquaintance Jitender, a resident of Mukundpur, arrived on a motorcycle along with two associates, Ishan and Arman.

Ishan allegedly handed over a bottle to Arman, who threw acid on her. She tried to protect her face but sustained injuries on both hands. The accused fled the spot soon after the attack.

Police said preliminary investigation revealed that Jitender had been stalking the woman, and the two had a heated argument about a month ago.

The crime and forensic teams visited the scene for inspection. Based on the victim’s statement and medical report, a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered, and a probe is underway, officials added.
