New Delhi: Ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Thursday raised concerns over alleged electoral malpractices, specifically targeting BJP leader Parvesh Verma and calling for strict action from the Election Commission (EC) to ensure the integrity of the election process.

In a press conference, Kejriwal stated that the practices surrounding the elections could undermine the entire process, rendering it a "big farce." He emphasised that the Election Commission had assured the AAP that it would take necessary action to restore the election process to its rightful course. "The EC has assured us that it will take strict action and bring the process back on track," Kejriwal said.

In addition to his concerns about electoral fraud, Kejriwal specifically called for Parvesh Verma to be debarred from contesting the upcoming Delhi elections. He went further, suggesting that there should be a raid at Verma's residence to uncover any illicit financial activities. "There should be a raid at his house to find out how much money he has," Kejriwal remarked, escalating tensions between the AAP and the BJP as the election campaign heats up.

Meanwhile, as the political landscape intensifies, the Left parties in Delhi have united under the slogan "BJP hatao, Delhi bachao," emphasising the need to defeat the BJP in the upcoming polls. Brinda Karat, a member of the CPM politburo, confirmed that the Left parties would contest six assembly seats, with CPM standing in Karawal Nagar and Badarpur constituencies. Karat criticised the BJP for undermining Delhi's autonomy and emphasised the Left's commitment to defeating the BJP at all costs.

The Delhi Assembly elections are set for February 5, 2025, with vote counting scheduled for February 8.
